Topic: Probate Quirks - Top Tips for Practicing Probate in North Texas Counties

The presentation will address the widely varying requirements of practice in probate courts of Dallas, Tarrant and other counties in North Texas.  Although the Texas Estates Code governs throughout the state, interpretations of the law and administrative requirements of individual courts can vary from one courtroom to another even in the same county.  Brian and Lynn have both handled estates, guardianships, and ad litem appointments in various North Texas counties and will share their “Top Ten” lists of practice tips for the larger counties and “Top Five” lists for the smaller counties.  Topics covered include which court has probate jurisdiction, where the courtroom is located, scheduling contacts and preferences, presenting fee applications, requirements for Zoom hearings, and preparing ad litem reports.
